About

Originally from Santiago, Chile, Raul Souza descended from a tradition of professional builders and immigrated to the United States in 1997.  Raul expanded his family’s craft by studying all aspects of modern construction: accounting, codes, and management. In 2005, Raul earned his North Carolina General Contractor’s license and started his own construction company.

Despite the downturn in the economy, by listening to the clients’ requirements and wishes, being flexible and attentive to detail, Raul has succeeded in building many homes in western North Carolina. Working together with a master team of loyal artisans and as a bilingual speaker, Raul personally oversees each project by communicating effectively with suppliers, laborers, and craftsmen to deliver, in a timely and cost effective way, handsome, well-crafted homes.

Our Building Process

Total Client Satisfaction

At RS Construction, we realize that building a home can appear to be a complex undertaking. Our team at RS Construction is here to guide you through this challenging process.  We are prepared with the vision, the knowledge, the experience and the commitment to do just that.  We work in collaboration with our clients every step of the way, from inception until well after occupancy to provide for a streamlined and successful home building experience.

Our home-building process consists of eight steps:

Step One: Initial Consultation

During the initial consultation, discussions will take place regarding your individual needs, desires, budgets and design concepts. Before you sign a contract with us, we discuss the many home design options open to you, the features available, and an estimated closing date that is based on the best available information we have regarding our work load, the typical weather for that time of year, and your particular needs.

Step Two: Design

During the design phase, we will gladly review any plans you may have or we can help you initiate a design with the help of one of our architect partners. Our team has worked on many different styles of homes and will be happy to provide you with ideas and options to help achieve your desired style. Once we have completed the design stage, we will provide you with a detailed estimate for your review.

Step Three: Contract Signing

We put everything in writing so you can rest assured that we will deliver what we promise. We'll help you match your needs to a final design and custom options so you will be getting the best home for your lifestyle. Then we go to work!

Step Four: Groundbreaking, Foundation Pouring, Framing

During this work-intensive phase of construction, an empty lot will be transformed into the structure that will be your new home.

Step Five: Preliminary Walk Through

Once our crew is done with framing but before hanging drywall, we take you on a tour through your home to confirm final locations for electrical outlets, telephone and TV connections, lighting fixtures, plumbing, and so on.

Step Six:  Plumbing, Wiring, Heating Systems, Insulation, and Drywall

Your new home begins to take its final form.

Step Seven: Outdoor and Indoor Finishes; Trim, Painting, and Landscaping

We administer the finishing touches.

Step Eight: New Home Orientation

The final step in our building process is an orientation to your new home. We walk you through the entire house to explain how the mechanical systems work, the features of your new appliances, and the products we've used in the construction. We believe that a key element to customer satisfaction, both at the closing and for many years to come, is understanding how a new home works and how to care for and maintain its many features. The orientation also gives you a chance to see the completed, clean house, and it ensures that we have delivered our high standards of quality throughout, on budget and on schedule.

Thank you for considering us to be part of your building experience. Our team looks forward to working with you throughout this process.

Thank You,

Raul Souza, President
